Mariam Abouzid Souali is a Moroccan artist born in 1989 in Targuist, Morocco. She currently lives and works in Tetouan, Morocco.
Abouzid Souali graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan in 2012, and went on to study French literature and art history at Mohamed V University in Rabat and then at Abdelmalek Essaâdi University in Martil. In 2014, the artist began a doctoral thesis and was awarded the prestigious Fulbright scholarship to continue her research at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, USA. Mariam Abouzid Souali's works plunge us into a universe linked to childhood: that of play. Alone or in groups, the artist's childlike figures evolve in landscapes of familiar architecture, yet always imbued with a disturbing strangeness.
EFA Morocco provides marginalized girls in rural Morocco with access to education. By eradicating the logistical, economic and social obstacles to high quality education, EFA enables these young women to fulfill their true potential.
EFA does this by building and running boarding houses for teenage girls close to schools, ensuring the girls can easily attend class every day and obtain a Baccalaureate degree.
